CHRISTELLE MATOU is a Parisian native with roots from the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. She earned her Master of Fine Arts for Stage and Film from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. As a Production Designer, she worked on The Spike Lee Production Fund Grant and MAX streamed short film CRACKED directed by Project Greenlight Director and Sundance Screenwriters Lab Fellow Lin Que Ayoung.Her Production design is part of many other short films such as THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR directed by Abbesi Akhamie, available on The Criterion Channel. Christelle’s work includes her production design on the narrative feature WHAT WE DO NEXT directed by Stephen Belber, streaming on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. Christelle's most recent production design credits include REUNION (2023) and CUT ME YOU CAN (2023)receiving respectively Dances With Films and Woodstock Film Festival nods among other festivals’ nominations.

Christelle’s Film credits as Costume Designer include A Lullaby To Love,  Confidence, Splashes of Dye, and Kashmir. Christelle’s work for Stage include Theatre, Concerts, Dance productions and Opera such as The 2021 Glimmerglass Festival’s productions of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Offenbach’s Songbird (La Périchole). More recently, Christelle designed the costumes for the 2023 Nashville Symphony new opera The Jonah People: A Legacy of Struggle and Triumph composed by Hannibal Lokumbe.
